Teamwork, Leadership and Gender

We ran a field experiment to investigate whether individual performance in teams depends on the gender of leader. About 430 students from an Italian University took intermediate exam that was partly evaluated basis teamwork. Students were randomly matched three and each team we chose leader with task coordinating work team. find positive significant effect female leadership performance. This is driven by higher members led rather than due improvement leader’s also that, spite teams, male tend evaluate leaders as less effective, whereas are more sympathetic towards them.
